Chocobo Cross Stitch

I had so much fun with this little fella! I love books and love chocobos, so he's a great match for me! (Although, I don't think I have actually played the game this fella is directly from.) I found the pattern for free online (below) and just couldn't resist!

It uses DMC thread colors and is about the size of my hand, so not too big but not mini either. I found the middle was fine for a hoop, but the outsides were all freehanded without a hoop. Oh, the muscle cramps!

Some of the colors, like the bright orange, I thought weren't going to work well when I started stitching them, but the colors together overall are just gorgeous. I accidently cut the fabric too small, so it will be weird to frame, but I have some ideas swirling around.
